What's Everybody Asking For?
Alright so every year I notice the requests start shifting a little bit and 2025 is no different. Thought I'd share what we're seeing out there because if you're planning a project this year, some of these ideas might get your wheels turning.
Large Format Stamp Patterns
The small cobblestone and brick patterns that were huge 10 years ago? Still nice, but people are moving toward larger format patterns. Big ashlar slate, oversized stone, that kind of thing. It gives a more modern clean look especially on bigger patios. We did a gorgeous large slate pattern on a patio in Lakewood Ranch last month and the homeowner was over the moon.
Gray Is King
For YEARS everybody wanted tan, sandstone, terra cotta - warm tones. Now? Gray. Charcoal. Cool tones across the board. It matches the modern farmhouse and contemporary styles that are everywhere right now. I'll be honest I resisted the gray trend for a while but it does look really sharp especially with white trim and dark accents on the house.
Polished Concrete Patios
This one surprised me a little. Polished concrete has been big in commercial spaces forever but now homeowners want it on covered patios and lanais. It's sleek, easy to clean, and if it's under a roof it holds up great. Not recommended for uncovered outdoor areas though - too slippery when wet.
Concrete + Artificial Turf Combos
This is probably the biggest trend I'm seeing locally. Concrete pavers or poured sections with strips of artificial turf between them. Looks amazing, zero maintenance on the turf, and it breaks up big expanses of concrete visually. We've done several of these in Palmer Ranch and Osprey this past fall.
What I Tell People
Trends are fun but don't chase something just because it's trendy. Pick what YOU like because that concrete is gonna be there for 25-30 years. Lucky for us most of these trends are genuinely practical too, not just aesthetic.
