Fall Is THE Best Time to Pour Concrete in Florida

October 12, 2019

This Is It - Book Now

If you've been putting off that concrete project all year, RIGHT NOW is when you want to pull the trigger. I'm not just saying that to drum up business. October and November are genuinely the best months to pour concrete in Florida and here's why.

Rainy Season Is Over

June through September in Sarasota is basically a daily coin flip on whether you're getting a 3 PM thunderstorm. I can't tell you how many times we've had to cover fresh concrete or delay a pour because of pop-up storms. Rain on fresh concrete is BAD - it damages the surface finish and weakens the top layer. Starting in October those afternoon storms pretty much stop and we can actually plan our schedule without checking the radar every twenty minutes.

The Temperature Is Perfect

Concrete doesn't like extremes. Too hot and it cures too fast, which causes cracking. Too cold and it doesn't cure properly. October in Sarasota? We're looking at highs in the low 80s, lows in the mid 60s. That's basically textbook perfect conditions for concrete. The crew isn't dying in the heat either which means better work.

Humidity Drops

If you've been here through a Florida summer you know what I'm talking about. That thick soupy air finally starts to break in October. Lower humidity means better curing conditions and a better finished product. Simple as that.

The Catch

Here's the problem - everybody figures this out eventually. By mid-October my schedule starts filling up fast. Thanksgiving through Christmas gets packed because people want their driveways and patios done before the holidays, before the snowbirds come down, before they host family.

Last year we were booked solid from Halloween through mid-December. I hate turning people away but there's only so many hours in the day.

So if you're reading this and you've been thinking about a new driveway, patio, pool deck, whatever - call us this week. Seriously. We'll get you on the schedule while there's still room. The weather's gonna be beautiful for the next two months and your concrete will thank you for it.

Give us a call or shoot us a text. Let's get it done while the getting's good.
