Well, That Was Unexpected
Hey folks, Brad here. I'm gonna be real with y'all - when everything shut down back in March, I didn't know what we were gonna do. We had six jobs lined up and every single one of them paused overnight. The phone stopped ringing. The crew was sitting at home. I've been doing this over 20 years and I've never seen anything like it.
My dad called me and said "Son, we made it through '08, we'll make it through this." And he was right, but man those first few weeks were ROUGH.
Then the Phone Started Ringing Again
Here's what happened - everybody was stuck at home staring at their cracked driveway and their ugly patio. People who'd been putting off concrete work for years suddenly had nothing but time to think about it. By late April we were getting more calls than we could handle.
We had folks in Lakewood Ranch, Palmer Ranch, Gulf Gate - all wanting patios, driveways, walkways done. I guess when you're working from home you want your home to actually look nice.
The Hard Part
The tricky thing was figuring out how to work safe. We started wearing masks on the job, keeping the crew spread out, doing estimates over FaceTime instead of in person. Some customers didn't want anyone on their property at all which I totally get.
Supply chain was a mess too. Getting rebar delivered on time became a whole adventure. Our concrete supplier was running short some weeks. Stuff that used to take 3 days to get was taking 2 weeks.
Silver Lining I Guess
Look, I'm not gonna pretend any of this was good. People got sick, businesses closed, it was scary. But if there's one thing I learned it's that people will always need their homes taken care of. And we're grateful that y'all trusted us to keep working through all the craziness.
If you've been putting off that concrete project, give us a call. We're booking out a few weeks right now but we'll get you taken care of. Stay safe out there Sarasota.
